HISTORY
The italian company DECAL Depositi Costieri Calliope S.p.A. was founded in 1961 by Pietro Triboldi.
In 1966 the company's first marine Terminal for the storage of oil and petrochemical products was set up in Porto Marghera (Venice) and DECAL quickly became the industry's leader in the Italian market, providing storage services to many oil and chemical companies.
In 1990 DECAL Group started spreading in Europe, building in Spain - where it currently ranks second in terms of market share - the new Terminals of Barcelona and Huelva. Koalagas, a joint-venture, was established with Primagaz (SHV Group), for the construction of a LPG Terminal in Barcelona.
Meanwhile in Italy, DECAL S.p.A. took over Società Internazionale Lubrificanti specialized in lubricants blending, filling and shipping services, thus widening the range of services provided.
Thanks to its ever growing experience Decal continued to evaluate new business opportunities and expanded overseas, first in Panama, building a bunkering services Terminal on Taboguilla Island, and then in Brazil (Port of Suape), with an oil and alcohol Terminal.
Decal continued its growth in Russia building a new Terminal on the river Don, in the Rostov Region.
To meet the challenge of the energy transition, in 2017 Decal founded the fully owned italian Company Venice LNG Spa, with the purpose of developing a project to install, within the port and industrial area of Marghera (Venice), a coastal storage terminal for natural gas.
In 2019 Decal Renewables Spa, a Joint venture between Decal and a fund managed by Abraxas Capital Management, was established to study new projects for the production of electricity from renewables through eolic and fotovoltaic plants.
Following its mission DECAL continues its expansion both in the existing Terminals (adding capacity or new services) and always looking for new business opportunities to keep up with the evolving energy market.
